Justin has spent his entire adult life working in film and television; getting his start at the age of 19 by working as an assistant accountant on big budget shows while he financed, wrote, produced and directed his own independent films. Since then Justin has gone on to be a part of over 100 productions including features, shorts, series, and documentaries and has more than 25 years in film and television under his belt.
Justin’s experience in film and television has crossed many facets of production including being president of Timshel Pictures from 2012 to 2018 and in 2019 he partnered with Zach Hagen to create Black Sheep Pictures. Black Sheep have a number of features, series, and multimedia projects in development with a keen eye on utilizing regional incentives including Ontario’s NOHFC, Manitoba’s lucrative labour tax credits, and the New York post production credits. Black Sheep Pictures are well positioned to provide un-paralleled production expertise as service producers as well as continue to create innovative and high quality original content.
Some of Justin’s work can be seen in such projects as If Wishes Were Horses, The Seder (NSI Winner, DGC Awards Nominee), and the original drama Group Home. AntiBirth, a recent feature produced by Justin had its world premiere at Sundance. In 2013 Justin joined the Feature Film Committee of the Canadian Media Production Association and served as the representative of the production caucus on the executive board of the Director’s Guild of Canada from 2014 to 2018.
